Is PURE Humidifier Co. the Same as Pure Enrichment or PureGuardian?

No. PURE Humidifier Co. of Chaska, Minnesota makes commercial and industrial steam humidifiers. Pure Enrichment and PureGuardian are unrelated residential humidifier brands. A PURE commercial unit carries a series name such as ES, EC, ER, GX or SX, and our PURE parts listings are for that equipment only.

What PURE Humidifier Co. is

PURE Humidifier Co. is a manufacturer of commercial and industrial steam humidification equipment based in Chaska, Minnesota. Its own website at purehumidifier.com lists electric steam humidifiers (the ES, EC and ER series), gas-fired humidifiers (the GX series) and steam-to-steam humidifiers (the SX series), along with steam injection and Insty-Pac products. In our series guides, each line runs on a building utility: electric power for the ES, EC and ER, natural gas or propane for the GX, and boiler steam for the SX. That makes them installed equipment, not portable room humidifiers.

We cite the company's own site for these company facts and add nothing beyond them. We do not state a founding year, a customer list or a market position here, because we want every line in this article to match what PURE says about itself.

Why the names get mixed up

The word "pure" is common in humidifier branding. Pure Enrichment and PureGuardian are residential humidifier brands, and neither is PURE Humidifier Co. They are separate companies with separate products. We name them only so you can tell which one you are dealing with.

The confusion shows up in search. A search for "pure humidifier parts" can return parts pages for household products as well as commercial equipment. If your unit is a PURE commercial humidifier, the model on its nameplate settles it.

How to tell what you have

  1. Read the nameplate. A PURE commercial unit carries a model that includes a series name: ES, EC, ER, GX or SX.
  2. Look for the DDR suffix. If the model ends in DDR, it is the deionized or reverse-osmosis water version of the series. On the GX, base and DDR models do not share water-level or drain parts, and each series guide covers its own base-versus-DDR differences.
  3. Check the utility connection. Electric ES, EC and ER units run on electric power. A GX runs on natural gas or propane. An SX makes steam from boiler steam through a heat exchanger.
  4. Compare capacity. The capacity ranges in our series guides separate the lines. They are listed below.
  5. If there is no nameplate, send us photos of the unit and any labels. We will help you identify the series before you order anything.

The PURE series, with our guides

We have a guide for each series. Each explains how to identify the unit, how to tell the base model from its DDR version, and which parts we list for it.

  • ES Series: electric steam, up to 306 lbs/hr.
  • EC Series: electric, cabinet-style, up to 102 lbs/hr.
  • ER Series: electric, small-load environmental-room unit, up to 21 lbs/hr.
  • GX Series: gas-fired steam, up to 900 lbs/hr.
  • SX Series: steam-to-steam heat exchanger, up to 2,035 lbs/hr.

PURE's site also lists steam injection and Insty-Pac products. We have not published a guide for those, so use PURE's documentation for them.

Why the series matters more than the brand name

Once you know the unit is a PURE commercial humidifier, the next question is which series. Parts are series-specific. Two Tri-Probe assemblies show it: we list 05328 titled for ES, SX and GX units, and a separate 05327 titled EC/PS. The ignition electrode and flame rod we list are titled for the GX, which is the gas-fired line. Ordering by brand name alone does not narrow the list enough. The series on the nameplate does.

PURE publishes the documents that settle the rest. Its resources page lists O&M manuals by series, INTAC controller manuals, PUREClean guidance and a drain tempering kit. Those documents, not a general article, are where parts diagrams and procedures live.

What this means when you search for parts

PURE part numbers on our listings are five-digit numbers, such as 05328 and 21059, and each title starts with the number. Search the number from your unit's parts list, and add the series name if the result is unclear. Our PURE listings cover PURE Humidifier Co. equipment only. They do not cover household humidifier brands.

Some PURE parts are quote-only. They are listed by request a quote and sit in the Parts Available by Quote collection. When a part is quote-only, use the request a quote path, or send the model and serial number through the contact page.

Part numbers and fitment in PURE's own documentation take priority over ours. Use the O&M manual for your series for the parts list and diagrams, and match the number on the failed component to the listing.

Scope: The company facts above come from purehumidifier.com. The residential brands are named only to tell them apart, and this article makes no comparison between their products and PURE's. Capacity figures come from our own series guides. Other PURE products, and PURE units built to older designs, need PURE's own documentation. The items in the table are examples of what we list.

Before you order

Confirm your unit's exact model and serial number from its nameplate before ordering. On the GX, base and DDR models do not share water-level or drain parts, and the other series guides cover their own differences. See our guide to identifying a GX unit for an example of how the nameplate settles it.
